Rowing
at a low rate, close your eyes. If you are rowing a single, be sure
that a coach or friend is nearby to alert you to any danger. If rowing
in a double or quad, have one sculler keep eyes open.
This
exercise is useful to allow rower to concentrate on the feel of good
balance, the connection of body to boat to river, and the flow of energy
from rower's center of power, up through body, along arms and oar, and
into the water.
Listen to the sound of the water as it rushes along the
side of boat, listen to the sound of the slide, listen to the pivot
of the oar in the oarlock.
